The witnesses swear that the captain was drunk, the mate was drunk, the second mate was drunk, tho steward was drunk, and the sailmaker was worse for liquor, and that the men generally '; were disorganised after the vessel struck. The steward was at the wheel, and when ordered to put the helm hard-up, he sangout " which way ?" One of the witnesses then thought it waß time to take tho helm from him, ns the wheel appeared to be supporting tha steward instead of tho. steward guiding it. The enquiry will probably terminate on Saturday, and the result will most likely be gloomy for the captain and officers. ' Auckland, January 1 3.
