The Nelson Evening Mail. MONDAY, JANUARY 5, 1874.

We observe the Poßt Office authorities have altered the date for the despatch of tbe San Francisco mail from Nelson. The notice now is for Monday next, 12th instant. ■ Reform League.—- The first monthly meeting of the Nelson Radical Reform League is advertised to take place at 8 o'clock this evening, at tbe rooms next to the Temperance Hall. Supreme Court. — The Civil Sittings commence to-morrow, when the first case to dome r on for trial will be that of Donne «. Lucas. City Rifles. — A parade of this Company is ordered for to-morrow evening, at 7* o'clock. Members will be fined for nonattendance. Church Parade. — The City Artillery, Rifle, and Cadet Companies paraded at the Drill-shed yeßterday morning, whence they marched, headed, by the Artillery band, 'to All-Saints' Church, where the service was read by Mr. Fell, and the sermon preached by the Rev. R, J. Thorpe. •The Gothenburg arrived at Hokitika a. ' 11 o'clock tbis morning. She left Melbourne at 2,30 p.m. on the 30th ultimo, and brings 1 1 saloon, 33 steerage passengers, and 212 tons cargo for all ports. She was tendered at 2 30 p.m., and sailed North at 3 p.m. : Fatal Accident at the Wharf.-— This afternoon the body of a child was seen floating in the water near the boat landing, and when picke.l up was found to be a young boy by name Harper. It is unknown how long he had been iv the water beforo be was found. Efforts were made to restore circulaiion, but without success. Tim Australian Bellringers.— The Lynch family, who performed hero with so much success a few weeks ago, purpose returning from Auckland, by tbe Ladybird, on .Wednesday, and giving entertainments here on the three fallowing evenings. Since they left Nelson they have been performing to crowded houses in Auckland, and will doubtless attract large audiences during their brief stay in this town.
