At halfpaßt two the players adjourned to lunch in tbe Drill-shed, the scores being, Nelson, lst in Din es, 83 ,- Motueka ditto, 45, witb four wickets to fall. Amateur Dramatic Entertainment. — Tbe novel of Fabiola, written some years ago by the late Cardinal Wiseman, has been dramatised, and was produced at St. Mary's Schoolroom on Wednesday evening last. The action of the play represents the struggles of the early Christians against their pagan persecutors, the chief interest centreing in Fabiola, a beautiful pagan of great wealth, and two christians, Syra und Agnes. The young ladies of the Convent Scbool have produced tbe drama with great success ; the scenery being good, and the dretses particularly so. Tbe acting was exoellent, and if there be any fault, it was tbat common to all amateurs — a forgetful* ness tbat listeners cannot hear unless tbe actors face them when speaking.
