VOLUNTEERS.

Tbe firing for choica of district representatives for the Colonial Firing of 18*74, took place in the Nelson district on tbe following days, each company firing at their own range. The Waimea Rifles fired on the 1 7th December, under the supervision of Lieut. D. Burn of the City Rifles. The City Rifles fired on the 20th December, under the supervision of Sub-Lieut. Ford of the Waimea Rifles. It will be seen by the scores that tbe Nelsou volunteers uro well up in the scoring. The Marlborough district scores bave to come before tbe sis highest scores will bo known, when tbey will bavo to fire again, and the highest scorer of the six will be the Colonial representative for 1874. Tbe ranges were 200, 400, 500, and 600 yards, seven shots at each range. The following are tho scores :—
