Blnff, December 18. , The Albion, Captain John M'Leaß, with the English mails. left Melbourne at 8.15 on the I3tb, and arrived here to-day at balf-past three o'clock. She brings 37 Faloon, ani 22 steerage piasenger.H, and 500 tone of cargo for all ports. She sails/ again to-night lor Dunedin . y December 19. At half-past nine last night the Wanganui steamer was found to ' e on fire by smoke rising from tbe engine-room skylight. Twenty minutes htrd work got the fUmes under. The officers' quarters, <*ngine-room, and poop-deck were charred, but the engines apparently are undamaged. She steamed for Riverton at seven. y Captain M'Lean of the Albion a*;d the officer*' and men of the Bebington rendered valnable assistance. Wellington, December 19. A telegram f rein the Agent-General states that the vessels which sailed in November were the Dathoueie for Canterbury with immigrants ; the Ocean Mail for Wellington with 320 souls; the Inverary for Napier with 270; th<: Carnatic for/ Dunedin with 260; and the Queen of the Age for Auckland wiih 190. These vessels bring a large qnantity of material for railway bridges. Eighteen ships were to sail during the present month with 1,800 eouls. Lyttelton, December 19. Mr Adam Chalmers has been re-elected Mayor. The Souksr haa arrived after a pisssge cf 119 days from London. She brings five cabin and seven steerage passengers. Sailed: Blanche on a cruise.
