With a view to commencing operations without delay, it bas been arranged to take over, on , the Ist of January next, the, j steamers M ori, Beautiful Star, and. damson, belonging to the Harbour Steam Company's flret, aud al£o their ; new steamer, just builton the Clyde, specially, for the Timaru and Ljttelton trade, and which is/expeefced to arrive in the colony early in February. These vessels "wiSl at once create a revenue for the Company, and, it is believed, will be sufficient to carry on the trade of the ports on the Coasts of Otago aud Canterbury. ; :'^ ■ Mr James Mills, who has so successfully 'conducted the business of the Harbor Company from its.coramencnmenr, will coatiaue to * act as Manager cf this Company. ' It is estimated that, to carry out th&e proposals, a capital of £150,000 will be required, and to provide for thia it is proposed to ia\l up £4 per share, making a total of £100,000, ant to Borrow the remaining £50,003 on debentures bearing a low rate of interest.
