Australian Bellkingers. — A telegram informs us that the Lynch family of bellringers have concluded a successful season in Wellington aud will sail for Nelson to-morrow. : ■■'' ■' ! Cricket.— -The return niatch hetween tbe Union Club and sixteen of tbe town will fake place, to-morrow, at the Bo" 1 tanical Gardens at 2 p.m. Tho names of the Union eleven are Greenfield, Baddeley, Wix, Cross,' Coles, ;i ßar ( niooat, Blundell, Blackburn, Barnett, Riley, and Tennent. The sixteen have not all been picked yet. Mr Curtis at Cobden. — Our correspondent sends us the following gratifying intelligence from Cobden. — Mr Curtis held a meeting last night when tbe Bchoolroom was crowded. A vote of confidence in him was passed. An amendment to the effect that his return would be a great calamity wss negatived. The resolution wns carried by 27 to 17. Steamer Ladt Barkly. — It will be seen by advertisement that the Lady Barkly will make a special trip from Nelson to Golden Bay on Saturday, 22nd, rpturning on Monday evening; also from Motueka to Nelson on Tuesday next, returning next morning, thus affording visitors an opportunity of being present at the opening of the Exhibition. Caledonian Societt. — The pnogranjme of New Year's Day sports under the auspices cf this Society is published, and inducements aro held out to> ouf young athletes to go into trainiug for the running and jumping matches, and other games, of which there will be' a' large numbed arid great variety. Artillery Entertainment. .-- Our readers aro reminded that the members of the Artillery Company will give another entertainment this evening, when thja.first part will consiet of recitations and instrumental and vocal music, in which the ladies wbb take part iri : the' cotnedy wilf give their assistance, as well as the Artillery Band under Mr Oakey. For the second part the comedy bf Our Wife; or, the Rose of Amiens will -gain he acted. Tbe prices of admission are reduced and another crowded house is expected. Hematite Paint. — Mr Louisson who 'for some time past has been at work in a small way turning to account tbe stores of hematite iron ore of which he is fortunate enough to possess a large quantity in the Collinirwood district, has commenced operations with bis new steam plant lately erected on his premises, in, Bridgestreet. He has procured a two stamper battery from Messrs Langlands' Foundry in Melbourne^:- add v." six- -horse: jpower steam engine by Messrs Fraser and Tinne and is dow io a position to crush at least one ton per day. We hope that Mr Louisson's efforts in this direction will be appreciated by the public ot Nelson and other parts of New Zealand, and that he may meet with the success he so richly deserves.
