HOPE AND RANZAU SCHOOLS.

On Wednesday the examination for' prizes was held at both these schools, tba at the former being conducted by the Rev. W. Cannell and Mr William Smith, and at the latter by Mr Joseph Sbepbard and Mr C. P. Kearns. The prizes were awarded aa follows :-— HOPE SCHOOL. First class— Elizabeth Palmer, 1; Frederick Smith, 2. Second— Mary Clissold, I; Fedor Keiliog, 2. Third— Eliza Kidd, 1; Juliana ClißSQld, 2. Fourth — Edward Webbey. t .Fifth— Plicebe, Smith, gixth —Charles Palmer. BANZAU SCHOOL. First class— William Meyer, 1; John Coleman, 2. Second — Lena Fanzelow. Third — Henry Fanzelow, 1; Mary Lyne, 2; Sophia Tietjen, 3. Fourth— Charles Coleman. Fifth — Chrißtina ,Birkelt )A 1; Minnie Coombes, 2. Sixth— Alice Cross. Seventh — Walter Coombes, 1; George Oxley, 2. Eighth— Henry Springer 1; Oliver Bryant, 2; John Schroder, 3. The examiners were much pleaeed with the condition of both schools, aod the progress' made by the children under tbeir able teachers Messrs. Brown and Combes.. In the evening a tea-meeting was held, Mr M. Campbell in tbe chair, when addresses we're delivered by Mr Joseph Shephard, Revs W. Cannell and C. Myer, and Messrs F. Kelling and C. P. Kearns. The proceedings were enlivened by recitations and Viuging by the children, and afterwards the room was cleared for dancing. The * day being remarkably fine, and all conducted in perfect good humor, the assemblage of abdve 200 children and adults parted, much pleased with the proceedings.
