Alexandra, October 16. Ngahaa along with Purukutu still remain at Kuiti, living quietly. Food is now very scarce there. Waikato would be well pleased to be rid them, Napier, October 16. The Agricultural Show held yesterday was a great success. There was a magnificent show of long-woolp, principally Lincclns. A marked improvement was noticeable in the young Lincolns. The cattle is considered by judges to be unrivalled in the colonies. Wellington, October 16. The Luna towed out the William Tapgcott at noon. A private dinner was given to the Captain at Osgood'a last night. H.M.S. Clio sails to-day for England. The Basilisk remains here fsr a few weeks. Dunedin October 16. Captain Hotton ia appointed lecturer on Geology and Zoology for the University. The Corporation are calling for plans for a new Town Hall. £150 are offered for the first; £100 for the second ; and £50 for the third. The Superintendent suggests a building to accommodate the Supreme Court as well, and will make £10,000 more available for the purpose. In that case he also thinks they might accommodate the Assembly if it should meet in Dunedin. Mr M'Leod offerß to act as Emigration Agent in British America, payment to be made according to results. Combination will ensue to obtain increased powers from the new Provincial Council.
