The other day there was a little parliamentary discussion in the Florida Senate m the course of which the President pro. tern was knocked down by an honorable member and scattered ever the floor, his W3g going one way, a glass eye in another, and his false teeth in several. He asked time to 'collect himself,' which was unanimously granted. By a recent copy 0 f the Hong Kong Times we learn that Mr C. R. Thatcher " the Inimitable," is in Hong Kon*, or at least was on the 24th June last. On that day he was bronght up ai the Summary Jurisdiction Court, before his Honor J H. Ball, and sued by Mr W. Curtis for 7d01., the price of printing « 150 copies of poetical productions." Mr Thatcher was described in the report of the Court as a collector of fossils, shells, and curios, a recent arrival in Hong Kong, but well known in Australia and tbe rolonies. The owner of a large peach orohard in Delaware has contracted with a canning company for the whole of his crop for 10 years, at 50 cents a backet. This is bringing the fruit business down to a commercial basis, and, inasmuch as the demand for canned peaches is unlimited, one may plant peach orchards on a large scale, with a certainty of making good sales, since 50 cents a basket is highly remunerativa. At tbe same time a small profit is made on each can, so that the business is sure. In a similar manner other fruits can be grown. Tbe great drawback to fruit culture everywhere is the uncertainty a 8 to whether sales can be made at a profit.
