The examination was highly [satisfactory, and reresulted in an opinion tbat the ship, and tbs saloon pnesengers who remained on board, can probably be admitted to pratique on Monday nexl. The immigrants not affected with Gearlctina will be released about Monday or Tuesday. The session of the Supreme Court will open on Tuesday next. There ia only one case to be heard. Good judges state that Wanganui ranks second to Canterbury in blood stock. Tbe City Police Court is to be abolished; the City Council being willing to spend £30,000 on a Town Hall, aud to set aside £10,000 for drainage purposes. The Council bas decided definitely against tramways. The Fire Brigade celebrated their anniversary by a torchlight procession, which was a grand success. The National Insurance Company commenced business yesterday.
