We l understand that a large number of articles , of every description of needlework will be offered for sale, and trust that the spirited , endeavor of the ladies and others interested to raise the amount required, will meet with the support of the public, i Decimal Gold Mining Company. — Mr Miibin reports baviog sold by auction to-day to Mr Pitt, Mr Thomas Adams' half-share (being one-twentieth of the whole) in this company, on which no further calls can be made, for £160. Resident Magistrate's Court. — Thomas Blair, charged with stealing a 1 bottlo of gin, the property of F. Stock, from the Steamboat Tavern, was sentenced to three months imprisonment. The same individual was charged by John Enfield with stealing a bottle of cloves from the Custom-house Hotel, and sentenced, this ; being the third offence, to five months im- < prißonment, the two sentences to be concurrent. Fatal Accident. — An inquest was being held as we went to press on the \ body of a little girl named Matilda Ann Thompson, aged one year und nine \ months, daughter of Mr Thompson, storeman at Messrs Stavert and Co.s, who died this morning from the effects of an accident on Friday last, when she pulled a pot „ of boiling water over herself, and sustained such severe injuries lhat she expired to-day. \ La Petite Amy — This young lady, assisted by several lady ami geDtlemen amateurs, gave another entertainment last I night to a large and appreciative audience. The singing aod dancing were excellent, and the aerial suspension very cleverly performed. There will be another per- [ formance to-night, when the little lady will appear in Nelson for the last time.
