Sib — Several of the old inhabitants of this district are desirous of ascertaining whether after the Wairau massacre the famous Maori chief Te Rauperaha paid a visit to and was seen in Nelson. Perhaps some of the old settlers resident in Neteon or its neighbourhood who were acquainted with those troubled times, would through the medium of your paper answer this question.
