Fire Brigade Dinner. — The annual dinner which was to havo been held tonight, is unavoidably postponed until tomorrow evening. Colonial Defence.— Our volunteers and those who are liable to be called out in tho first-class militia, will find something to interest them in our telegrams today. The Rev. A. Towgood, formerly of the Waimeas, was admitted to Priest's ordera at St. Paul's Cathedral, Wellington, on Sunday last. Nelson Loan Bill — Wa are indebted to Mr Curtis for the following telegram: — The Nelson Loan Bill was read a third time last ni_jt and passed. The following alterations in tbe schedule were made hy arrangement : — first schedule 150,000 aeres in the Amuri was altered to 75,000 acres; and 50,000 acres at the Maruia were added. Second schedule: Roads in the Amuri district was increased from £4000 to £9000, and road to Buller via the Hope reduced from £15,000 to £10,000. Other alterations were made in the body of the Bill, but they are unimportant.
