Fire Brigade Dinner.— The annual dinner will be held at the Trafalgar Hotel, to-morrow evening, when the chair will be taken by Mr Greenfield, in the absence of the Superintendent. Resident Magistral's Court. — Cross summonses were issued by Mary Ann Cotton and Thomas Berry for using insulting language one to tho otber. Both were bound over in their own recognisances of £10, to .keep the peace, for a month. Death of an Old Settler. — After a long and painful illness there passed away from amongst us yesterday, Mr James Graham, the well-known landlord of the Provincial Hotel. ' The deceased arrived here in the Whitby ia 1841, and has always taken an active interest in matters affecting the welfare of the town and. province. He will be greatly missed by a large circle of friends and acquaintances. Motueka. — We are glad to inform our Motueka subscribers that there is every chance of those popular entertainments of last summer being repeated during the en<suing seasoD, and we have been requested to invite the members of the Committe of the musical and reading society to meet at Mr Nicholas's Chambers, on Thursday evening next, 25th instant, at half-past seveu. Accident. — As Mr D. Talbot, senior, of Motueka, was in the act of brewing, he was walking over the top of the boiler to put some hops in, when his foot slipped and he fell into tbe boiler; both legs were badly scalded as he was in several minutes before assistance could be rendered , and was unable to get out by himself. Fortunately his screams were heard by a person close at hand, and he was extricated, but not until he had received serious injuries. \
