'•J y Solicitors : / Messrs Smith and Anderson. / Interim Secretary: / Mr Richard H. Leary. THERE is no branch o/ commercial enterprise in New Zealand which presents such a favorable opening for the . iavestmda^ef Capital as that of Fire .and Marine Insurance. The success'' which has .attended the establishment of «' The New Zealand* and-" South British " Companies is a proof of this. The busiu • ss of Fire and Marine Insurance is so rapidly increasing that there is ample room for another Company in this Colony. Largely increased facilities for coveri.g this class of risk are impfei^iyely'required, aud the National Insurance Conjpany^B founded. to supply this want. This/Companyis not started in opposition to any oTthe other New Zealand Companies, but is intended to co-operate with them in" fostering the trade and commerce ot the Colony, ard corcentrating in the country the large capital which is annually drafted out of it by foreign Insurance Companies. In order to make this a purely Colonial Company, and to ensure a large amount ot business through the influence of its Shareholders, it is proposed to distribute the Shares over the whole Colony, and, in ;their allotment, to keep in view the ability of Shareholders to influence business to the Company. 60.000 Shares will be reserved for the Northern Provinces. The operations of this Company will be conducted :on sound principles, and extreme caution will be exercised in, the selection of risks. It is intended that the Articles of Association shall provide for the election of Local Boards of Directory by the Shareholders in the chief commercial centres of the Colony. . . The amount proposed to be called up will, it is estimated, be., a. sufficient paid-up.,, capital to warrant the Company in commencing operations, and it is not anticipated that any further call will be necessary. Application for Shares will be. received by the Secretary, at the Company's Temporary Office, High-street, Dunedin, and at tbe Branches of the National Bank of New Zealand in the various Provinces.
