A messenger was at once despatched overland to give early delivery to the Marlborough correspondence, and in the hope that the Paterson could be met at Picton. But it seems the state of the roads is such that he was not able to reach Picton in time, and consequently the letters will be forwarded by the Napier to-morrow morning.
