The Government steamer Luna left Wellington for Nelson last night about lo o'clock, and may he looked for this evening. She will proceed to the lighthouse at the Sandspit, to-morrow. The Wellington left the Government wharf at five o'clock yesterday evening, steamed out to the Gazelle which was lying at the ouier anchorage, towed her into the harbor, and then proceeded on her voyage southwards. The brig Gazelle, Captain Brent, left Newcastle on the night of tbe Bth, with light winds and fair weather for the first 12 hours, when a fresh gale set in from S.S.E.. driving the vessel to the northward of Lord Howe Island. It moderated on the 12th, and from that time blew successively from N.W. and S.W , up to tbe. time of sighting Cape Farewell on Monday morning. Passed the barque Anne and Jane on the 10(h, 150 miles from Newcastle, and on tbe following day a ship, supposed to be the Excelsior, also bound to Newcastle. She brings 311 tons of coal, oranges, lemons, &c.
