Dunedm, August 19. The following are the returns from Queenstown and Arrow for the Lakes election : — Pyke 142, Innes 105, Barton 40, Manders 87. Auckland August 19. Mr Saunders reports buyers of Caledonians at £18 ; National Bank, 33s ; South British, £3 ; Imperial Crown , 555. Gold has been struck in the bottom of the big shaft. Dunedin, August 20. The result of the Queengtown election is Pyke 220, Manders 179, Inness 173, Barton, 98, There is only one return to come from the Shotover branches, but it cannot affect the result. There is great agitation over the route for the Moaraki and Dunedin Railway between the Port Chalmers and Dunedin people. > Auckland, August 20. Bishop Moran has evoked much criticism by denouncing secret societies. At the Thames he Baid there were only two Churches in the world, the Catholic Church and* Satan's Church. The latter formed these secret societies. The Albion, from Newcastle, reports the wreck of the Mary, of Sydney, near Newcastle. All hands lost.
