The system of nominated immigration is assuming large proportions in Canterbury. The Press says that up to the closing of the last mail applications were received at the Christcburch office for 494 nominated immigrants, equal to 403 statute adults. Cash to the amount of £1262 has been deposited by the nominators, and bills for £66 have been ejiven. These numbers do not include the Timaru nominations, which wilt probably make up a total of nearly 600 soulb nominated in the Province of Canterbury during the past four weeks. '
