Mr Mabin reports sales of South British Shares, at 60a. The Motuelca wharf and warehouse will be let by auction at noon on Monday. Waimea South Jockey Club. — The stewards of this club are requested to meet at tho Forest Inn on Monday next. Sale of Stock — Messrs. Stavert and Co. report a sale of slock at their yards at Richmond yesterday, when fat cattle realised from £6 to £10; fat merino wethers, 14s 6d ; hacks, from £3 10s to £15. The fat cattle averaged about 27s 6d per lOOlbs. Resident Magistrate's Court. — Ellen M'Conville wife of Richard M'Conville, fireman, applied through her solicitor, Mr Fell, for a protection order against her husband under the " Married Women's Property Protection Act." Order granted as prayed. Interprovincial Football Match. — The match between the Nelson and Wellington teams was played at the latter place yesterday, and resulted in a drawn game, Nelson gaining a slight advantage but neither side being able to kick a goal. The Governor and a large number of spectators were on the ground. Tbe son team were entertained at dinner by the Wellington men in the evening. They will return by the Taranaki to-morrow. All Saints' Church. — Tho monthly choral service was held last night, when the congregation whs far larger than on any previous occasion. The choir, under the conduct of Mr Holloway who, as organist of All Saints', has laid the congregation under a deep obligation to him for the improvement ho has effected in the church music, performed th<jir share of tbe service in the most creditable manner. A brief address was delivered by the Rev. R. J. Thorpe. Mutual Improvement Class. — The usual weekly meeting of the members of this Class was held at the Wesleyan schoolroom last night, the Rev. T, Buddie, president, in the chair. The meeting opened with prayer, after which, Mr J. T. Smith read a paper on " Education," introducing the subject of religious instruction in schools. The matter was taken up on both sides by the members of tbe class, and a well-sustained discussion ensued, which lasted for over an hour. Mr Bond will read a paper on " Strong Drink" next Friday evening. Supreme Court.— -The criminal sittings of the Supreme Court commence on Monday next. The business however ia not great. Mary Ann Woodman, who was at the last session convicted of manslaughter, but whose case had to be submitted to the Court of Appeal, will be brought up for sentence. Tbe remainder of the proceedings will consist of the presentation to tbe Judge by the Sheriff of a pair of white kid gloves. The civil sittings commence on Tuesday, the 26ih instant, wbeu the following cases will come on for trial : — SymoDs v. Wilkiej action to recover £509 17a Bd, and interest, being the purchase money of a debt ; Thomas v. N. Edwards, action to recover £137, price of certain sheep; Eyes v. Henderson, action for libel, damages claimed, £2,000; Saxton v. Symons, action to recover £3,504 and interest, alleged balanco of account. The case of Donne v. Lucas and Son for libel, will not come on for hearing this session. Auxiliary Fire Brigade. — About thirty of the members of this branch of the Nelson Fire Brigade aud their friends sat down to an excellent dinner at the Custom House Hotel last night, Captain Garrard in the chair, and Mr Akersten in the vice-chair. In proposing the toast of the evening, Mr Wigzell expressed his regret at the absence of all tbe Agents of the various Insurance Companies, who might have been expected to attend on such an occasion. He also stated that the sum of £50 voted by the Provincial Council for the Town and Port Brigades was altogether insufficient for their requirement. Some capital songs were sung, and a most agreeable evening was spent.
