Artizans' Association. — Our readers are reminded of the dramatic entertainment to be given by the members of the Ar tiztinß' Association this evening. English Mail. — Tho Suez mail that left here ia the Raugitoto on Wednesday, will be forwarded from Wellington to Port Chalmers, where they will bd transshipped into the Alhambra, which will return from there direct to Melbourne. Tonic Sol Fa Class. — A tea meeting in connection with Mr Smith's tonic sol fa class was held in the Baptist schoolroom last night, when about 60 sat down to an excellent tea provided by Mr Johns, During the evening the class snug several pieces in a most creditable manner. The following Telegram was received by Mr Sclanders from his Honor the Superintendent just as we were going to presß: — "lam decidedly and strongly opposed to new tariff. Nelson members meet to-morrow morning ou the railway question, and I will ascertain their views for information of Committee." Harmonic Society. — The Nelson Harmonic Society, which, for the last twelve years has bten in the habit of giving quarterly concerts, afforded another pleasant evening to the subscribers and their friends last night. Wo wero pleased to find that the orchestra showed » maiked improvement both in the quality of the music and the number ot performers. The programme wns of a most varied character, and, iv addition to some of our old friends who were warmly received, brought to tbe/irontalady vocalist who then made her appearance lor the first time, aod found such favor with the audieuce that she was heartily encored, and n violinist who fairly took his hearers by storm by his exquisite playing- It is scarcely necessaly to say that he too received an undeniable encore. The concert, on the whole, passed off most successfully, and with yreat credit to the conductor and all who took part in it.
