MOTUEKA ROAD BOARD.

The Board met on the 15th instant, all the members present. Messrs Greenwood, Noden and Leech took their seats as members of the Board, the two former having been re-elected, and the latter in place of Mr Wallis. Mr W. W. Coppins was appointed chairman, Mr Greenwood treasurer, and Mr Tarrant, secretary, inspector of works, and receiver of rates. The Secretary stated that he had wriften to the Constable as instructed last meeting, calling bis attention to the numerous dogs running about unregistered. The Secretary was instructed to invite tenders for ditching on the new road between Herriek's and Waiwero, also for stone and timber for a culvert near Mr Thorp's, nnd to givo Mr Talbot notice to remove his pigstyes to a greater distance from the road, the stench from them being, in the opinion of the Board, injurious to public health. Resolved: That the Secretary take immediate action to recover nil rates that have been in arrear more than one year, and to give those ratepayers who have not paid last year's rate notice by advertisement, that any rates remaining unpaid after the 25th of next month will be sued for in the Magistrate's Court on the third Wednesday in September next. Resolved: That for the future, the meetings of the Board be held at 6 o'clock p.m. on the third Wednesday in each month, instead of at 2 o'clock p.m.
