COME TO CALVARY.
Come to Calvary with me, See your suffering ccc! Strangely God and man conjoin, Jems, human nnd rlivine. Him hfhold, mid jeers and scorn, Scourged and wounded, crowned with thorn ; Him, the gentle, gracious, good, Covered with a robe of blood ! There, in mockery, loud and fierce, Hands and fret with nails they pierce. There, in agony untold, On the cross thy Lord behold. Sep ! He droops his blessed head In mysteriou* anguish dreai Trembling, quivering — none may know His unutterable woe I Drop by drop the Victim dies, J anguor dims hia loving eyes, Deepening as it steals apace, Si c ihe pallor on his face ; , Crimson tews roll down his cheeks— Words of bitter grief he speaks, Hear the wail of sorrow burst From his sacred lips, " I thirst ! " Darkening terrors frown around, Earthquakes rend the heaving ground, * Thunders utter nature's throes, Opening graves their dead disclose. And, by arm omnipotent, See, the tf mple's vail is rent. " It is finished ! '' hear him e.ry s See him bow his head and die 1 Come to Oalvarv. come with me, Weeping come, with bended knee ; Him* behold upon the cross Dying to redeem nur loss.
