Holland. « The minutes of last meeting were read and confirmed. , The Overseers's report waß as follows: -— " I beg to call your attention to the state of the road from Mr Stafford's gate to the Slaughter-house bridge, there will require at least 200 yards of gravel to effect the necessary repairs. The metal purchased from Mr Martin has been placed on the road; price paid, 2s per load. In Spring Grove the sum of £30 has been expended in patching; It will cost a further sum of £20 to complete tbe same. Tbe work done by Mr John Schwass here is not two chains, instead of three and a quarter, as stated by him. The new abutment to the bridge by Mr BotterelFs should be built at once; the railway authorities decline to do anything in the matter. I should recommend them to be built of stone, and if it is heightened two feet, I think there is ample waterway.- I have examined the road in Pigeon Valley, several chains of side-cutting have been done, aud a bridge about twenty feet span has been erected, but ihe whole of tbe works are not yet completed. In Pigeon Valley the newly formed road is being destroyed by dragging logs instead of slinging them. The road irom the Wai-iti to Mr Ford's has been put in order, costing £17. A new bridge has been put up at the top of Bell's road. The sum of £4 has been expended in extra Jabor in Dovedale. Mr J. Best has completed his contract, forming from Russ's bush to Blue Creek, £48. The inhabitants refuse to accept ihe roud as laid off in Redwood's Valley. Most parts of the main trunk line still require constantly attending to." Resolved: " That tenders be invited for carting 200 yards of shingle from the bc.«ach at Stoke, aud that the bridge by Bofterfdl's be kept passable for the winter." Mr.J. Rutherford attended and requested I that for the future lhe "Clover road" leading to bis mill should be kept up^by the Board. Resolved : " That the road cannot be considered as a trunk road, although of great public convenience, and therefore any application for aid in repairs must be subject to vote by the Board."

Resolved : " That particulars of this road be obtained, and the Secretary lay before the Board a list of the several roads, gravel pits, or other properties at any time purchased or required by it, or in the use and occupation of the Board, showing how and when the same have been acquired, the evidence of title in each case, aud where to be found." The Secretary was directed to caution the several mill holders against damaging roads by dragging logs, Sec., otherwise proceedings will be taken to abate the practice and have the damage repaired; also to send notice to certain parties who allow their pigs to damage the roads.
