WAIMEA ROAD BOARD.
The following.isthe result of the elections of members of this Board :— '*■•" •■ v * Stoke : Mr Rout, unopposed. Richmond ; Mr Barnicoat, unopposed^ Dovedale : Mr J. WinJ unopposed. Waimea West : Mr W. M. Thompson, unopposed. Messrs Strtfaord, Mercer, and J. Arnold were to have been proposed ( as candidates,' but ftid hot arrive at the 3 place appointed for the nomination until too late, Mr Thompson having been declared elected before they put in ah 'appearance. •■ •_.-*-. - ;:.j ;,( Spring Grove : Messrs Baigent and Bird were candidates, and the former was, bu a poll being taken, elected by 25 to- 21. .'■ •- T Jy ' -•"' Wakefielp, ':'■ Mr H, Tunniclifl was tha successful candidate in , this district, defeating his opponent,, Mr ,Gr. Holland, hy 12 to 9. — At the nomination Mr G. Partes suggested that tbe operations of the Board could be carried out paore economi-
caily and successfully if in each district a working overseer were appointed, who should receive a shilling or two per day more than the men ;ordinal*ily employed, instead of there being an Inspector for the whole of the Waitffeas.
