WESLEY AN CHURCH ANNIVERSARY.
This anniversary :waa celebrated :at the Hardy-street Church last -night, when after the tea, a public . meeting was held, which was largoly at- - tended. The chair, w^s. taken by A. Saunders, Esq , wl-9, r after a hymn, had been sung,and ajprayer 6fferqd?up Si. tnej Rev E. Thomas, addressed the meeting, dwelling principally lipoii the 'special purpose for -which they^ad^mert.; 7' : He. also alluded* 1 iri~*co&demh&tbfy terms t'o' tne unjust attack which had beeu made upon the Biahop of Nelson in the Church Herald. ,The following -report was thenr read hy the.Socretary^Mr R. Wesleyan Church, Nelson, desire 'to : render' 1 -''thanks' to Almighjty >God. ,for hisr/goodness vouch-'., safed to.us ns a Church and People during the past year, and _that notwithstanding the dulness of the : times they "liave been enabled to: paint theFoUtside of/ th'e church, -, the schoolroom, and also the. front of the 4 minister's houße. ► The front of the church grounds have also been improved" by the planting of trees. The trustees f would take this .opportunity to thank/ Mr Coleman , of '' Brook-street^ - and Mr E^ps, for their
gift of trees; to Mrs Trask, for the beautiful pulpit cushion presented by her to tbe church; also to the ladigs of gtltp congregation who isubscribe^ ||for %h& platform chair, wh^lCs was ffrery much needed.
