" By hia Honor Oswald Curtis, TSuperintendent of the Province. of Nelson, in the Islands of New Zealand, &c, &o,_ WHEREAS, by " The Protection of Animals Act, 1867," it is provided that no GAME shall be Hunted, Shot, Taken, or Killed, in any part of the Colony, until the same shall have been Proclaimed as Open for. that purpose : Now therefore 'I, Oswald Cuktis, Superintendent of the Province of Nelson, in exercise of the power and authority in me vested in that behalf, do hereby Proclaim and Declare that PHEASANTS and QUAIL may be &HOT during the month of JUNE next, by persons duly licensed under, the above recited Act, or authorised by " The Protection of Animals Act, 1872," in that part of the Province of Nelson included within the undermentioned boundaries, viz.— Commencing at Reef Harbor, Torrent Bay; thence in a straight line to the summit of Mount Campboll; thence by the boundary of the South-west Goldfields to the junction of the Rivers Hope and Buller; thence in a straight line to the Tophouse; thence by the boundaries between the Provinces of Nelson and Marlborough to the sea; thence by the sea coast to Reef Harbor. Given under my hand, and issued under the Public Seal of the Province, at Nelson, this Peventh day of May, in the year of our Lord One thousand, eight hundred and seventy-three. SHEEP RETURNS FOR 1873. ~VTOTICB. — The following Clause of the _L>( "Scab Act Amendment Act, 1869," is published for general information :— " Every owner of sheep shall, in the month' of January in each year, make a Return to the Chief Inspector, of the Number of Sheep ih his charge in the Province of Nelson, on the Ist day of January in such year; and shall, in the month of February in each year, pay or cause to to be paid to the Treasurer of. the province a ;sum of money at the rate of three shillings per liundred for all sheep. 7 in . his charge -upon the. Ist day ; of . January in such year ; and in default 7 thereof the same may be sued: for in the name of any Inspector, and the proof of the number of sheep in his charge shall rest with the defendant.", If the foregoing notice is not attended .to before , the 31st May, proceedings will be taken to recover the same.
