The State of the Law. — Edward Blackwel), 36, pleaded Guilty to an indictment charging him with burglariously entering a house and stealing six cakes, value 6d. — The Commissioner said that as the law stood at present burglary was an offeree with which not all the aldermen of London could deal, and the magistrate had no alternative but to commit the prisoner for trial ; ,and thus for sixpennyworth of cakes the country would probably be put to the expense of £50. — The prisoner was sentenced to three months* imprisonment.
