The Nelson Evening Mail. WEDNESDAY, MAY 21, 1873.

. Provincial Council.— Mr Guinness' loan resolutions will come on for discussion to-night. The Eleventh Annual Meeting of the Permanent Building Society will be held at the Temperance Hall, this evening, at half-paßt seven. Magistrate's Court.— George Rowe was charged with abusing and making use of indecent language towards Mrs Potter, of the Postboy Hotel, on her refusing to supply him with liquor when in a state of intoxication. Fined £1 and costs £1. Star Combination Company. — This Company will make its first appearance in Nelson to-morrow evening, having lately arrived from the West Coast, where its performances have been favorably commented upon by the press. Mr Vivian and Miss Andrews are said to be excellent comic singers, and are ably supported by Mies Melville and Messrs Simmons and Burton, whose acting is highly spoken ofr~ Ironstone. —We have to-day been shown a fine specimen of ironstone from the ranges at the back of Mr Macmahon's farm at Eiwaka. Portions have been handed to Mr Tatton to be tested, and if appearance is to be relied upon, his report must certainly be a very favorable one. It is said that the stone exists in immense quantities; if so, the discovery wiil prove a most valuable one, and no time should be lost in turning it to account. '
