WOOL PRODUCT OF THE WORLD.
' The New York Tribune of February .4, says:*— "For some months the Comptroller's office and several banks of the city have been laid under contribution for evidence to further the proof of municipal frauds. Now evidence shows precisely who got the percentage of the Special Audit, and what percentage each confederate received. It establishes" that the total frauds in the Special Audit were near ten millions, instead of six millions three hundred thousand dollars os heretofore stated. Nine hundred and thirty-two thousand eight hundred and fifty-eight .dollars and twenty cents of this money have beeii traced into Tweed's hands. Additional evidence establishes that of the Special Audit frauds he received over 1,500,000 dollars. The examination of. the books of the banks reveals extensive frauds of the Board of Public Works so far concealed; because of the refusal of the Commissioners to x^low any scrutiny of the accounts. The amount of frauds in this department is not divulged at present, hut there is trustworthy information to the effect that tbe total frauds developed by tbis new
investigation into ali the departments will aggregate twenty millions oi dollars. The prosecuting of the 'Ring' criminal indictments against Tweed is not to be *.m---mediately pressed. The fight now cornea up in the civil suits, and to these tbe whole attention of the prosecution will be devoted."
