PROCLAMATION.

By his Honor Oswald Curtis, Superr intendent of the Province of Nelson, in the Islands of New Zealand, &c, &c. WHEREAS, by " The Protection of Animals Act, 1867," it is provided that no GAMB shall be Hunted, Shot, Taken, or Killed, in any part of the Colony, until the same shall have been Proclaimed as Open for that purpose : Now therefore I, Oswald Curtis, Superintendent of the Province of Nelson, in exercise of the power and authority in me vested in that behalf, do hereby Proclaim and Declare that PHEASANTS and (QUAIL may be SHOT during the month of JUNK next, by persons duly licensed under the above recited Act, or authorised by '• The Protection of Animals Act, 1872," in that part of the Province of Nelson included within the undermentioned boundaries, viz.— ■ Commencing at Reef Harbor, Torrent Bay, thence in a straight line to the summit of Mount Campbell ; thence by the boundary of the South-west Goldfields to the junction of the Rivers Hope snd Buller; thence in a straight liDe to the Tophouse; thence by the boundaries between the Provinces of Kelson and Marlborough to the sea; thence by the sea coast to Reef Harbor. Given under my hand, and issued uuder the Public Seal of the Province, at Nelson, this Feventh day of May, in the year of our Lord One thousand, eight hundred and seventy- three. LICENSES to SHOOT PHEASANTS and QUAIL will be issued at this Office on and after Monday, the 19 th instant. Any person in bona fide occupation of land not being Waste Lands of the Crown, or some one person appointed by him, may shoot Pheasants and Quail on such land without a License : Provided such land be within the boundaries proclaimed open for Pheasant and Quail Shooting. ' PERSEVERANCE MINING COMPANY (Registered), THE DIRECTORS of this Company are prepared to receive OFFERS' until MONr DAY, June 2nd, from persons willing to WORK the above MINE on TRIBUrE. The claim is situate at Bedstead Gully, Collingwood, an£ comprises over thirty-five acres held under lease, fourteen and a-half of which have been recently acquired. There is a Battery of Twenty Stampers at the Mine, ten of which have been in use for about three years, and are at present in perfect working order; the others were recently erected, and only require thq tables being laid to be ready for' use. , The mine has been opened in various places by levels and an inclined drive, from which 6812 tons have been crushed, yielding 2656 oz3. gold, which sold for £10,090 12s. Od., equal to an average of over 7 dwts. 19 grains gold, or about 75s 6d per ounce. The power for working the Battery at present used is derived from a race, the fluming of which was all new, and the earthwork repaired in 1871, and which can be made capable of carrying sufficient water to drive the twenty stampers. There is also a single-stamp Battery, Retorthouse, Manager's residence, Stables, Huts, &c , and all the usual plant of a mine.
