New Volunteer Cobps. — The services of the Stoke Rifle Volunteer Cadet Corps have beeu accepted by the Government. Habmonio '-j. SoppTT.— A concert will Tbe given by this Society at the Provincial 1 Hall on Thursday evening, the first part to eoneist of Weber's Mass Jn G-, and the
second of miscellaneous selections. There will be a rehearsal at the Provincial Hall to-morrow evening when all members are requested to attend. Mb Ltjckie's Kesignation. —Mr Luckie has sent in his resignation of his seat in the Provincial Council in time, as he says, to allow a successor to occupy his seat. Considering that the Council will meet this day week;, the time he allows is somewhat brief, and we cannot but think that he would have studied the interests of his late constituents more had he given them loDger notice of the vacancy it has become their duty to fill. Mr Acton Adams, it will be seen, is already io tbe field as a candidate, his principal reason for offering himself beiDg that he may do what he can to push forward the inland communication scheme. It is very probable tbat he will be unopposed.
