The claim is situate at Bedstead Gully, Collingwood, and comprises over thirty-five acres held under lease, fourteen and a-half of which have been recently acquired. There is a Battery of Twenty Stampers at the Mine, ten of which have been in use for about three years, and are at present in perfect working order; the others were recently erected, and only require the tables being laid to be ready for use. The mine has been opened in various places by levels and an inclined drive, from which 6812 tons have been crushed, yielding 2656 ozs. gold, which sold for £10,090 12s. od., equal to an average of over 7 dwts. 19 grains gold, or about 75s 6d per ounce. The power for working the Battery at present used is derived from a race, the fluming of which was all new, and the earthwork repaired in 1871, and which can be made capable of carrying sufficient water to drive the twenty stampers. There is also a single-stamp Battery, Retorthouse, Manager's residence, Stables, Huts, &c , and all the usual plant of a mine.
