He was unable to meet his engagements, .and . was as unfavourably regarded by' his creditors ; as' is usual in such eases. He was short about £1,000, and those to whom he was indebted had begun to forget their trouble. They were agreeably surprised on Monday morning last to receive the full amount of their claims. The death , of an uncle had put him in funds. .He had the necessary sum telegraphed to a bank in Melbourne, and without ah instant's delay relieved himself of all his obligations. The story redounds to. his credit, and I believe it is intended to compliment him in true Anglo-Saxon fashion, by inviting him to a cheerful meeting of ex-creditprs at dinner.
