The Luna. — Some fears are entertained for the safety of the Luna, which left Manukau for Wellington with the acting Governor and Messrs M 'Lean and Vogel on board about the same time as the Taranaki, but has not yet arrived at her "destination. There was a probability at one time of the Taranaki being despatched in search of her, and her passengers, being sent on by the Ladybird, which sails from here for the South on Saturday. The Wesletan Quarterly Meeting, was held last evening, when members of the congregation and friends of the Rev, : W. J. Watkin, who is leaving, by appointment of the Conference, for Lyttelton, sat down to a farewell tea. After the | tea they adjourned to the Church, where a short service was held, and Mr. R. Lucas, circuit steward, made a financial statement, showing that besides the usual current expenses, a disbursement bad been made of £70 9s. 3d., so that their minister would have tbe satisfaction of leaving them in a vigorous and healthful condition Some remarks were made by members of the congregation replete with sympathy and good will for their retiring pastor, and hope for their future welfare under the superintendence of the Rev. T. Buddie. Mr. Watkin having replied in a kindly and most feeling speech, some anthems by the choir, and the benediction, terminated a pleasantly-spent evening. 1 '■'" ■■■•-*** , * , ~T-''"* i, -- = *-*^«iw_^if^^^
