Registeation of Joint-Stock-Com-panies. — -Mr Lowther Broad has been appointed to this office vice Mr C. L. Maclean. Appointment to date from Ist April next. The Accommodation House on Manuka Island, on the road between Blenheim and Nelson,, has been burnt down. Part of the contents were saved. The loss to Mr Macaulay, the lessee, is £70. Sale of Horses -—Messrs W. Stavert aiid Go. report a sale of horses at Mr Newton's yards yesterday, when carthorses fetched £12 to £20j hackneys, £7 to £18; and ponies, £8 to £10. Oddfellows' Hall. — Professor Louis, " the American Wonder," will give ah entertainment pf a novel character at the Oddfellows' Hall this evening. The " rope tying trick," sword performances, and Indian war songs and dances in character, together form a programme^ that is, we should think, likely to draw well. The Professor offers a reward of £25 to any one who shal),junder certain condition?; tie him so fast with sixteen fathoms of rope that he cannot liberate himself. Miss Aitken. — We would remind oar readers that a most attractive entertainment is to be given at the Temperance Hall, to-night, by Miss Aitken, assisted by a number of lady and gentleman amateurs, who are desirous of paying a tribute of respect to a lady whose talents tLey so greatly admire. Among Miss Aitken's readings will be " The trial of Catherine of Aragori," " The Bapteagement of the Bairn," *•*- The Raven," and several other wellknown pieces ; while there will be singing, readings, and recitations by those who have so kindly offered their assistance. Altogether the entertainment promises to be a most successful one. The Cabandinis.— lt was with great , pleasure that we once again listened to the Carandini Company last night after their three years' absence from Nelson. The ■ concert commenced with the overture td "Les Huguenots," played as a duet onthe pianoforte by the two sisters, whose execution is more brilliant than ever. An unaccompanied quartette, "Farewell to the Forest," was a most charming performance, and gave immense delight to the audience, who applauded most enthusiastically* To Madame Carandini's singing of "The Forsaken" ahd "Jessie the Flower ofDumblane" it was a great pleasure to listen; as it was also to three solos of tbe Misses Eosina and Fannie, who on each occasion were loudly encored. Selections from the opera pf the " Grand Duchess," introducing "Lo ! how the Sabre," were sung with great spirit, and fairly took the audience by storm. In Mr Gordon, who, in addition to taking part, ein the concerted pieces, sung two solos,' the Company possesses a great acquisition. Mr Sherwin appears to. have given up solo singing, and how only appears in company with the others. The concert on the whole was a really enjoya- . ble one, and deserving of abumper house, which we hope to see to-night, for which a very attractive programme is published, including two "of the" sisters' favorites, "Ring on, sweet Angelus," by Miss Bosnia, and " The murmur of the shell/ , ( by Miss Fannie, *„ -. ■•'.;* ;..• <■ '„■■"..,,'' -\ At the 'Auckland artists'; Anniversary 'supper Mr. Luckie, in responding to the .toast; of tte t*" Press," J spoke > in glowing terms.6f the benign influencta'bfiart. -He also referred to the scenery around Auck"■land "as 'of thTe: mostlSe^ - equal to any that he had witnessed in any ' par it of the i world/ even in Auld Reekie.
