Public Notices. DESIGN FOR LUNATIC ASYLUM. Superintendent's Office, Nelson, February 10, 1873. THE Provincial Government hereby offer a Premium of Forty Guineas for the Best DESIGN for a LUNATIC ASYLUM suitable for the requirements of this Province, and Ten Guineas for the Second Best design. Designs must include Elevation and Ground Plansof a building capable of accommodating One Hundred Patients, but must be so arranged that a portion ofthe building sufficient for say Fifty Patients may be erected in the first instance. Designs must be sent in on or before MONDAY, tbe 31-st March next, accompanied by an estimate of cost with sufficient data to check the general correctness ofthe estimate. No Design will be considered if the estimated cost of the portion of the building required for Fifty Patients exceeds £4000. The Provincial Government will decide upon the relative merits of the Designs submitted, and no competitor will be considered to have any claim to be employed in the supervision or erection ofthe building.
