London, March I.—At a first view the British Government is apparently at conflicting interests •with the Australasian colonies, taken in connection with Lord Kimberly's proclamation' with respect to steam postal service, and is somewhat perplexing; but it is understood that the Government hare decided to divide the Imperial mail subsidy prorata amongst the Colonies, leaving the Government and Legislature of each colony at liberty to carry out its own plans. The Privy Council has reversed the decision in the Melbourne Court Case. The London Chartered Bank (v. the Lempriere Bank,) loses .£14,000. The Navy estimates amounted to £9,892,725. With regard to the concentration .of troops by Bussia, Viscount Enfield stated that the English Government would neither ask Bussia to fix the frontier beyond which that Power would not permanently advance towards intermediate zone, * nor would the Government recognise any unannexed territory as available for annexation. Affairs at Madrid are at present quiet. A tender on behalf of the Queensland Government for a mail service via Torres Straits, has been accepted by the English Government. Intelligence from Mauritius, Feb. 7—Markets firm: freights low. Pakis, March I.—There is a fresh crisis at Versailles after Gambetta's speech denouncing the proposals of the Committee of TMrty-two to M. Thiers. Debate adjourned to enable M. Thiers to declare explicitly whether the new Bill means Republicanism or Monarchy.
