COLONIAL REPRESENTATIVES.

' Major •■ Gordon further stated tbat he had been. requested to inform the representatives that arrangements had been made by the inhabitants of Nelson for providing them each day with lanch gratis, an act of hospitality that he believed was unprecedented in the annals of-vdlunteer-ing in the colony. The Volunteers, headed by the band, then marched to'Chriet Church, where arrangements had been made' for seating as many as chose, to. attend the service. These were taken advantage of by nearly the - whole Jofl them, and a most admirable sermon suitable to the occasion was preached by the -Rev. G.. H. Johnstone, who took, fp'r his. /text the words, " Watch ye, stand fast in-tue faith, quit ye like men, be strong.": . After service they again fell in at the foot . of the Church Hill, and accompanied by the band marched back to the Drill Shed where- they were dismissed.
