The Nelson Evening Mail. WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 19, 1873.

Thbmafr?Berry, ior^illegally £ impounding three head of cattle, the property of Alice Moorhouse, found by him atraying ou the

.road, was yesterday fined one shilling and costß 14s. Murray's Circus.—- There was not a very good attendance at the circus last night, when a performance ! was given-|inji aid of the Nelson; hospital, nevertheless the programme was carried out to the entire satisfaction of all present. The troupe proceeds from Nelson to the West Coast, where we doubt not' that it will meet with a favorable reception. Government Insurance.-— lt will be seen by advertisement that Mr M'Donogh, the Government agent, intend, giving a. lecture on Life Assurance at the Masonic Hall on Tuesday evening next. The subject is one possessing considerable interest for the public, and as no charge is made for admission, he will probably have a large audience. Magnet Variety Troupe. — There was another crowded house at the Masonic Hail, last night wheD, judging by the frequent applause with which the various performers were greeted, and the repeated encores that were perhaps a little too exactingly demanded, but good-naturedly responded to, the audience were highly delighted with the evening's entertainment. The exceedingly clever evolutions of Lottie and bei brothers on the trapeze were, as on the previous night, the great attraction, and the enthusiasm with which the elegant feats of this trio of gymnasts were received must have been as gratifying to them as was their performance to the audience. Were they to appear more than once during the entertainment, there can be no doubt that to the public it would be even more attractive than is the case at present.
