THE MANAGER of the PERSEVERANCE MINE.
To THE EDITOB OP THE NELSON EVENING MAIL. Sir — Upon the receipt of last Saturday's Examiner, the fisrt words that caught my eyes, and being a good deal interested in' the matter, the first part of the paper I read— was a letter headed "Management of Perseverance Mine," and signed " Thomas Adams." I was glad to see the subject taken up by the person -who ought to be the best able to give reliable information respecting it, and hoped to find my opinion of the last most discouraging balance-sheet somewhat modified— to be more satisfied as to the working and general prospects of the raine— to the why and wherefore that, after an interval of three years, the probability of a dividend is as far off as ever it was — with any other general knowledge of moment to a shareholder rather largely, interested. Judge my surprise and disappointment when I found nothing in Mr Adams' letter but a flourish of trumpets in honor of his. ''professional reputation" — bis word for it— that he knows but "few real miners-' — and a charge of mismanagement on another part; aB though iltat, if established, ought to reconcile the Perseverance Compaoy to any degree of incompetency on bis own. I have only to add that throughout Mr Adams' letter the question of management is scrupulously avoided— another instance.bf Hamlet with Hamlet left out. lam, Hie, Motueka, January 28. B. N. H.
