To THE EDITOB OF THE NELSON EVENING MAIL. Sir— You favor us to-day with an account of the resignation, by a Mr Hall of the pastorate of the Baptist Church, Ryde, and with a beautiful specimen of his theology, copied apparently from the New Zealand Wesleyan. Allow me. to say that the said Mr Hall -was not the pastor of the Baptist Church, Byde, as you tell your readers, but of a small church in the suburbs. On his own showing he had been unsuccessful, and the Church had declined. At the end of three years he gave up, joined the Independents, found a vacant church and a higher salary. _is you give currency to this remarkable case of conversion or perversion, you cannot in fairness refuse insertion to a statement or two on tbe opposite side. " On the 6th October last, the Rev. T. Hinds, minister of the Independent Church, Newfound-land-st., Bristol, an Independent minister of 25 years standing was baptised at Counterslip Chapel, in the same city, and received into the . Baptist denomination." "A few weeks before, the Eev. J. Dunlop, eight years minister of the Trinity Congregational Church, Ringwood, Hampshire, was baptised by Dr JJandels at the Regent Park Baptist Chapel, and received into the Baptist denomination." ' I might mention the conversion of Henry Ward Beecher and others to Baptist views, but I must stop. _ . . - i am, &c, D. Dolamobe. Nelson, January 17, 1873. For continuation of news see fourth page.
Holloway's Pills.— The Female's Friend.— So soon as the human functions are disordered steps should be taken to rectify them. It is a hopeless delusion to leave the malady to its own course. A few appropriate doses of Holloway's Pills at the proper period, will prevent many a serious illness. They arrest all morbid influences, and prevent disease from extending and affecting other parts of the system. Their primary action is upon the blood, stomaeh, liver, -kidneys, and bowels. secondary action is to strengthen the nervous centres. No drug can be at once so harmless, yet so antagonistic to disorders affecting the female. Themoßt perfect reliance may be. placed upon their purifying 1 , regulating, and renovating virtues, They may be safely taken by females at any age. 154 ■■ l ' : ■ ■' ■ '" NEW ADVERTISEMENTS. ;n o t i c e , MR.
