Wellington, January 18. Arrived: Dacotah, from South. She waits the arrival of the Rangitoto with twenty through passengers. The Taranaki sails for Picton about 3 p.m. today. Auckland, January 18. Canterbury flour £13 to £15, wheat 6s 3d, oats 2s 9d, market overstocked; hams and bacon are in demand at 8d to 9d. The South British Insurance Company have issued a circular showing that at the end of December there were 721 shareholders, 148 being in Nelson. 36 premiums had been accepted in the first four months, amounting in all to £9000. The losses for tne same period were £2099. The National Bank announces its intention of purchasing the business of the Bank of Otago. A local board of directors is to be appointed in each, of the principal provinces. The head office will be in London. Sailed: Queen Bee for London with a cargo valued £29,000. Dunedin, January 18. M'Landress and Hepburn have sold a cargo of sugars by auction. Finest white crystal, £38 1 5s ; second, ditto, £37 ; finest yellow crystals, £36 ; second, ditto, £34 ss ; good yellow, £33 7s 6d. At Stephenson's wool sale greasy merino fetched lid to Is 2d ; ditto, half-bred, ls to Is 3Jd; washed merino, ls 9£-d to ls lOd ; ditto, half-bred, ls 9£d to Is llsd.
