Cricket. — Ths return match between the Victoria and Waimea Road Cricket Clubs will be played at Victory Square, on Boxing Day, For the convenience of the Union piub, who require the use of ' the ground for practice in the afternoon, the wickets will be pitched at 9 o'clock. Mk. George Cotterell. — We remind our readers of the entertainment to be given by this gentleman to-night. An excellent programme and Mr Cotterell's well-known ability in personating various characters, promise an evening's amusement such as is not often to be enjoyed in Nelson. Fatal Accident. — A fatal accident occurred on Monday last, to William Scutter, a man engaged on the Government contract between the Owen and Mangles } who was felling a tree when a large branch fell and struck him on the back of the head driving his face on to a stake which penetrated his eye aud came out at the back of his head, causing instantaneous death.
