Wellington, Dec. 16. An Association of Early Settlers has been formed. Chbistchubck, December 16. . The Exhibition was opened by the Governor at noon. He was received by the superintendent and Executive; The Superintendent reud an address congratulating the Colony and the Province^ on the success of the Exhibition, and ex» pressed his regret that the Governor was leaving the Colony. The Governor replied in a short speech, and thanked the Superintendent for his expression of good- feeling towards himself and Lady Bowen, and said that though he was going to another colony he should aUvays cherish warm feelings towards the people of New Zealand. He- then formally declared the Exhibition opened. The Governor and Xa<3y Bowen' went through the Exhibition, and afterwards attended the sports in Latimer Square, where 10,00,0 persons were present. Tbe Governor attends the ball to-night, and the Mayor's Banquet on Wednesday. He goes to Akaroa on Thursday. Timaeu, December 26. The Horticultural Society's show was a great success. Auckland.
