NELSON COLLEGE SPORTS.

. Judge: H. Adams, Esq.— Starter: C. Y. Fell, Esq. The sports yesterday were quite /as successful, and somewhat more interesting than those of the previous day, owing to a larger number of outsiders taking part in them. The prettiest event was the long jump over a 3it 6in hurdle, for which a special prize was given by Mr Simmons, the Head Master. The result will be - found below, and it will be seen' that the ■ jumping was exceedingly good. The Ciip ''was, as i bad been anticipated, a gift to Biundell, who won eyery event connected with i it with one exceptioo, in whichr'he • :: .>- "■'■ was seicond, thus Bcbriog ; s7 out of fja/piM; ;sible ; sß marks. ..The next was- Wither who ;' 1 Sl^andVw followed byiAGampbeii '• • . ."wUhipO. ,Tte pr')Z£ B a F? t0 .^ d^s,tr|i)uted W-- ■ :; : •^-'ibiß■^ternpQn.>;/^tie^^es■ult^^ | jth^ #£v :'"■ (^ : w:iil ; ibe..^i>na beioW,all the. eyeiits itprjetito. :'* ' : 0: .Cu^t|iogt^rke4! wit^^^ n a *^!?^ iT"''-'- ':, ": :.:./, i-. ■ *stahduiff liongr Jviinpi : itQpen ,to t all ithe Jacnoql.

A number of impromptu piek-&back and eack races which afforded much arausemeDt, brought to a close- the College Sports of 1872. To Frederick Wither, who is about to leave the school after an attendance of seven years, the boys owe a debt of gratitude for the great iuterest he has invariably taken in organising and carrying through in so successful a manner these sports, which are always looked forward to, not only by the scholars themselves, but by all who take an interest in them, and it may be safely asserted that on their meeting again after the Christmas holidays, the absence of one, whose example cannot but nave had a most beneficial effect on his schoolfellows, will be greatly regretted by all and each of them.
