It would be a convenience if the bank nearest the river "was lowered, at once, cay sis: feet; but -the two bridges between the* other banks, on which would be about five feet of filling, -'"are not sufficiently strong to carry it, although they might last some time as they'are, or till such time as the road is formed. That the ford by Knapp's, and the road to River Terrace be repaired, also Forty-line bridge; that the overseer send such of the day men a's can be spared on the roads to wards the boundary; that .. tenders be/ invited for the work at the toll-gate; and' that the Secretary ascertain whether the road through Mr. Siggelkow's Land can be procured. : The 'plans and sections of the proposed deviations from the present road on the Moutere hills, as marked out by the Surveyor, having been examined, the Secretary was desired to send copies to the Moutere Board. The assessment of Mr. Smith's land in Dovedale, was reduced so as to make his rate £1 12s. 6d. The Overseer was directed to ascertain the probable quantity of bricks that would be required during the present season for culverts, and tenders were ordered to be invited for making 10,000 in -some central place in Dovedale. "Warrants were signed for £260 145.; also, by the Chairman, certificates for work done on account of the vote under "Payment to Provinces Act," to the amount of £75 ss. 6d. The Secretary was desired, to make application to the Colonial Secretary, for copies of certain Acts and 1 General Government having reference to the Road, Board. . The Surveyor was directed to see Mr. Webby, and, if necessary, make some agreement about a part of the road in Qqail Valley, also to examine the Crown Grants of certain sections in reference to rights of road. Mr. L.Dron agreed to pay 10s. for such flax as he can cut during this season near the riverside..' On the application of Mr. Mri-R; Eden, the Surveyor was desired to lay out a road through section 58, Waimea South, and give any required notice about obstruction. Hills as being detrimental to property. The Secretary to reply, that the matter is at present under the consideration of the Moutere and \ this Board.
