The Claud brings the news that the missing , i boat of the City of Newcastle, containing the , ;; women, had been picked up by the barque John Knox, and taken on to, Sydney. They were all saved. Wellington-, Dec, 4. It is rumored that the authorities intend to prosecute Captain Bain of the City of Newcastle. Auckland, December 4. John W. Diddams was found dead in. the long room of the Mechanics' Institute with his throat . cut. It is supposed that he was laboring under temporary insanity. Dunedin, December 4. A house in North East Valley, occupied by Captain Baldwin, was burnt yesterday afternoon. It was insured in the Liverpool, London^ and Globe for £150.
