City Eifles. — The monthly inspection parade will be held at the Botanical Gardens tbis evening, at half-past six. Richmond Cattle Fair.— The next quarterly fair wili be held at Richmond to-morrow. Colkingwood Coal Mining COMPANY.—Tenders, to be left wiih the Legal Manager not later than Monday next, are invited for excavating a tunnel on. the property of this Company. We are glad to find from this tbat it is their intention to again carry on the works at this valuable mine. Japanese TROUPE.«-This troupe having been unexpectedly detained here, another , of their amusing, entertainments wili he given to-morrow evening, when they will be assisted by Mr. Small, and Miss Beresford, who is said to be a highly popular ballad singer. Christmas Excursion Trips. — The New Zealand Steam Company advertise that they are prepared to issue tickets at single fares between. Nelson and all tbe other New Zealand ports during the present month and that of January. Tickets to be available for one month. By Messrs M'Meckan and Blackwood's boats a similar opportunity is ofiered commencing by the Tararua on the 9ih instant. Nelson College. — We are requested to call attention. to an alteration in tbe time and place at which the examination of candidates for the Provincial Government, and Governors' scholarships will be held to-morrow. Tbe chaDge bas been rendered necessary by the fact of so largn a number of candidates having sent in their Dames that a room of greater size than can be planed at the disposal nf the examiners ut the College will be required. The examination will therefore be held ut Mr Smiths schoolroom in Bridge-street, commencing at half-past ten.
